Creating Access to Healthcare for Patients
Mylan Supports the Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences

Global social responsibility is intrinsically woven within Mylan’s commitment to achieve our mission and deliver better health for a better world. In an endeavor to advance our efforts to address the unmet needs of the communities, Mylan in India donated an Ultrasound imaging machine to the Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Sciences (IILDS) hospital at Sonarpur, Kolkata West Bengal.

The Indian Institute of Liver and Digestive Science, a brainchild of Liver Foundation, West Bengal, is an emerging center of excellence for research and patient care services for liver and gastrointestinal diseases. Set up through philanthropic support, the hospital is assiduously working to address the question of equity and access to health care. The hospital is located near Kolkata and is constructed on land that was donated by the government. The institute was inaugurated in 2016 as an outpatient facility and now has developed into a fully functional inpatient hospital.

In December 2018, IILDS held a ceremony to lay the foundation stone to construct two new buildings in 2019. To further fortify the commitment to creating access to healthcare, Mylan will contribute additional funds to build a blood bank in the new building in phase 2 of the project.
